URBAS cogeneration plant for THEURL

URBAS cogeneration plant for THEURL

THEURL AUSTRIAN PREMIUM TIMBER operates a sawmill, planing mill, glued laminated timber plant, and CLTPLUS production for wood building solutions from a single source.

Since 2005, THEURL has been supplying the operation with energy from biomass.

URBAS Energietechnik is in the process of replacing the aging ORC plant by a modern biomass cogeneration plant based on a steam circulation process.

The new cogeneration plant has a fuel heat output of 19.9 MW.

Cogeneration generates 12.4 MW of thermal and 4.0 MW of electrical output.

Additionally, a flue gas condensation plant permits uncoupling of up to 8.9 MW worth of low-temperature heat.

The entire energy is used to supply the THEURL plants.

In addition to this plant, URBAS-ENERGIETECHNIK is also installing an 8 MW hot-water boiler as a standby plant at the Thal site.

8 MW Warmwasserkessel als Standby-Anlage.

This gives THEURL an energy-technical solution from a single source – for one-stop-shop wood building solutions.
